Westonka Youth Football (WYF) is a volunteer organization operated through Westonka Community Education and Services. WYF provides a great opportunity for kids to participate in organized skills development, flag football, and tackle football. We are dedicated to offering young people in grades Kindergarten through Sixth Grade an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of football and the value of teamwork in a safe and fun environment.

In grades 5th through 6th, the Westonka Youth Football program forms tackle football teams and competes against other area programs/schools, including Westonka, Dassel-Cokato, Delano, Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted, Maple Lake, Rockford, and Watertown-Mayer in the Wright, Carver, and Hennepin Area (WCHA) Football League.

5-6 Grade Tackle Football Player Evaluations will take place on August 12th and 13th beginning at 6:00pm at the MWHS South Practice Fields (next to the WAC). Practices will begin on Thursday, August 15th and games will begin after Labor Day and run until mid-October. Practices will be held on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings at the MWHS South Practice Fields (next to the WAC). Games will only take place on Saturdays. Games run approximately 90 minutes. The 2024 season will conclude on Saturday, October 12th.

Westonka Youth Football is a parent sponsored equipment program. This means that parents can elect to purchase new or used equipment each season. It also allows parents to decide what type of helmet and equipment is preferred for their child. Parents have control over the condition of their child's football equipment each year.

5-6 Grade Football Equipment Needed:
-White All-In-One Football Pants
-White Helmet with Hard Chin Strap
-Shoulder Pads (football only)
-Shoes (molded one piece cleats, NO metal spikes)
-Mouth Guard
-Practice Jersey (white or red color)
-Practice Pants (optional: white, red, black, or gray color)
-Protective Cup (optional)
**All Equipment Above Must Be Purchased by the Parents/Player**

Uniforms:
Tackle Football Jerseys: WYF purchases and collects game jerseys at the conclusion of each season. If a game jersey is not returned at the conclusion of the season, that player/family will be charged an additional $75 fee by WYF to replace the game jersey that was unaccounted for.
